AITA HÄDALIST

A charity issue for the benefit of the Estonian Red Cross.
The Red Cross issue of 1921/22 overprinted with "Aita hädalist" = Help the Needy.
The stamps were sold with a premium of 1 or 2 marka.

Printing: The vertical two-line typographed OPT was applied by the GPW. The OPT is black and glossy.
The previosly mentioned ultramarine shade of the 5/7 mk. value can mostly be found in this issue.

Perforation: Of both values 10.080 imperforate and the same number of perforated stamps were overprinted. One sheet of the 5/7 mk. perforated stamps was destroyed before the delivery.
The perforation variety (horizontally imperforate) appears in the same position as in the original Red Cross sheets.

Proofs are not known.

Forgeries: Many different forgeries exist. The prices apply only to expertized items. Detailed descriptions are not within the scope of this catalogue.

Valid: Both values were completely sold out. They were valid until February 29, 1928.
