OVERPRINTS
ON RED CROSS IN 1926
A surcharged issue to benefit the Estonian Red Cross. Due to increased
tariffs the Red Cross Issue of 1921 was overprinted with new values.
Sales price: 6 and 12 Mk.
Print: Offset OPT by the GPW, commissioned by the
Estonian Red Cross. The OPT can be shifted horizontally or vertically.
Perforation: 13 1/2 x 14 and imperforate x 14. The
perforation was made after the overprinting.
Proofs are not known.
Forgeries are not known.
Valid: Sold over the counter until December 31, 1927.
38.758 of the 5/6 and 37.260 of the 10/12 value were sold over the
counter. The remainders (55.342 and 53.996) were handed over to the
Estonian Red Cross and sold to dealers and collectors. Invalid from
March 1, 1928.
