CARITAS
An annual charity issue from 1936 to 1940, with a surcharge to benefit
the "Ühisabi" (Collective Aid Fund).
Design: 1936 and 1937 by Axel Roosman (Rosmann).
1938 by Michail Sidorov
1939 and 1940 by Günther Reindorff.
The stamps show the Coat of Arms of various cities and counties.
Paper: All issues on a pure white wove paper.
Gum: white and smooth.
Print: The sizes of printing sheets are not known.
We presume that the 1936 issue was printed in sheets of 100 and all
other issues in sheets of 50.
In 1938 and 1939 a souvenir sheet was printed including all four stamps
of the corresponding year.
All stamps have an underprinted protective network. The 1937, 1939
and 1940 issues have Printing Order numbers and the 1938 issue sheet
numbers. Color bars appear with some of the issues. The remainders
foT the years 1936 - 1939 were destroyed by the "Ühisabi".
Only the stamps sold over the counter are accounted for individually.
The number of stamps destroyed in 1939 is not known, therefore the
number printed is given. The 1940 figures are as follows:
